Identification of the Taurus constellation with the bull dates back to the Upper Paleolithic period. It is believed that Taurus and the Pleiades were depicted in the paintings at the Caves at Lascaux (roughly 15,000 BC). A large and prominent constellation in the northern hemisphere's winter sky, between Aries to the west and Gemini to the east. The constellation’s position welcomes the sun's motion during the vernal equinox and corresponds to the birth of spring.
The Egyptians considered Taurus to be the sacred bull associated with the renewal of life. When the spring equinox entered Taurus, the constellation would be covered by the Sun in the western sky as spring began. This "sacrifice" led to the renewal of the land. A symbol of abundance and renewal.
